Nature has always fascinated me in many ways, and it has always had a presence in my work. Most recently, I have been concentrating on weather, natural disasters, and climate change. I struggle with anxiety and obsession over weather patterns and my own personal therapy is to study them, understand them, and transform them onto paper. I use Sumi ink and markers on a smooth surface which allows me to move quickly and aggressively, movement that is very much like my subject matter. After each painting is completed, I physically and emotionally feel a sense of tranquility, very much like the calm after a storm.
